Punjab giving impression of ‘police state’

RAWALPINDI: Federal Minister for Law and Justice Babar Awan Sunday called Punjab administrators illegal and whatever they do will also be considered unlawful.

Addressing a program of former nazims and naib nazims and later talking to media, Babar Awan said the overall Punjab province is giving an impression of a ‘police state’.

“Those who entered into the arena of power from back door have already fled from the country whereas those looking for a secret exit have become politically bankrupt,” he noted.

He challenged Nawaz Sharif to muster some ‘moral courage’ and make an entry into the Parliament. “A horse and arena is awaiting him,” he added.

Babar Awan suggested that anything worth discussing be put forth through the Parliament.

He said the year for change is 2013 when people will go and reelect Pakistan People’s Party for the second term.

People have been attaching high hopes with the Parliament whose both Houses will be meeting on Monday during which three bills, including one relating to Competition Commission, will be presented.
